Our client is the US subsidiary of an internationally leading manufacturer of innovative passenger seating systems and interior solutions for public passenger transport and commercial vehicles, such as bus and rail cars. The company has set the standard for quality and innovation since 1945 and currently employs over 1,400 employees worldwide.

The company is currently seeking a Plant Manager/General Manager who will play a key role in leading the production site to a successful and fast-growing future. The Plant Manager ensures increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction while improving the efficiency of manpower, materials and machines. This position offers the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the organization and has considerable scope for long-term professional growth into a General Manager role. The Plant Manager will report to the CEO and will also manage at least 10, but up to 70 direct reports.

Responsibilities:   

  • Direct and oversee total plant with a focus on all aspects of production and assembly operations, materials, quality, sales and marketing, engineering, maintenance and team leadership, purchasing/procurement activities, and reporting to the German headquarters
  • Manage policy deployment in the areas of quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures
  • Monitor cost structures, pursue key business objectives, and manage make-or-buy decisions
  • Oversee day-to-day business operations and identify areas for improved efficiency. Work closely with existing functional managers and frontline supervisors to implement new policies/procedures as necessary and to find effective solutions to any operational issues that may arise
  • Carry budget responsibility including but not limited to P & L, cash flow and inventory levels
  • Support and enhance the QMS and ensure compliance of the company’s quality policy
  • Encourage employee participation for continual improvement at all levels in the organization
  • Ensure compliance with established company work and safety rules
  • Implement SAP as ERP software for finance and logistics/manufacturing
  • Recognize and develop employees to strive for increased knowledge and abilities

Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Production Technology, or similar qualifications
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in the commercial vehicle or supply industry
  • Solid understanding of quality management and the ability to implement new enterprise software
  • Ability to lead and manage more than 100 employees in a team environment
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office and MRP Software, such as SAP or similar preferred
  • German or Spanish language skills would be beneficial, but are not required
