Germany Trade & Invest (www.gtai.de) is the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. The company helps create and secure extra employment opportunities, strengthening Germany as a business location. With more than 50 offices in Germany and abroad and its network of partners throughout the world, Germany Trade & Invest supports German companies setting up in the U.S., promotes Germany as a business location and assists US-companies setting up in Germany.
This position will support two Directors in the Washington, D.C., office of GTAI, one from the Trade Team and one from the Invest Team. Duties will be divided about 80/20.
Research (Trade) responsibilities include: research and assist with information for articles and other publications; update relevant economic statistics; help with other information as requested; maintain media relations to receive the newest information from a variety of sources; keeping up to date (newspapers, online sources, etc.) to find topics of interest for possible articles; gather new and relevant information on trends, etc.; setting up interviews with information sources; other duties, as required.
Economic Development (Invest) responsibilities include: contact C-level executives to schedule meetings; assisting with the organization of GTAI events; other duties, as required.
Administrative responsibilities include: answering phone calls; maintenance of company marketing materials, preparation of occasional expense reports; maintaining contact databases; archiving articles and information and maintaining files; other duties, as required. Occasional travel may be required.
Position requires excellent communication, networking, time management, computer and analytical skills for business and industrial sectors, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks and to work independently. Candidates must be fluent in German and English, with excellent grammatical skills in both languages. The ideal candidate should have some experience in office and administrative duties. Bachelor’s Degree is required.
