The German American Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (GACC) is looking for a highly motivated International Career Development professional to join our J-1 Visa Services team in New York City.

The GACC was established more than 75 years ago in New York City as an impartial promoter of commerce between Germany and the US. The GACC works together with the German American Chambers of Commerce in Atlanta, Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. under the umbrella AHK USA - with more than 2,500 member companies and an extensive national and international business network. The organization has distinguished itself as an innovative and relevant service provider as well as a reliable partner in German-American business inquiries. Comprised of a highly qualified team of professionals, the GACC New York supports companies by facilitating the following: market entry & business development, legal services, J-1 visas, recruitment and startup guidance, delegation trips and events.
The GACC Career Services department has been a designated sponsor for over 25 years and has sponsored many thousands of international Exchange Visitors over this period.
As an official sponsor of the J-1 Exchange Visitor Visa Program, we are glad to assist international candidates who wish to come to the U.S. to do an internship or traineeship at eligible host companies in business, law, engineering, IT, science, hospitality and other fields.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing incoming J-1 visa applications.
- Advising interns/trainees in matters relating to visa applications, regulations, travel, cultural programs, etc.
- Interfacing, advising and guiding host companies through the J-1 visa process.
- Operating, updating and maintaining accurate paperwork and records in various internal databases.
- Performing site visits to new host companies.
- Marketing and promoting the J-1 visa program.
- Attending, organizing and assisting with related events and cultural programs.
- Generally supporting the Career Services department in all administrative processes.
Requirements:
- Academic degree in business, HR, international relations, or similar.
- Excellent English language and communication skills.
- Proficient German language and communication skills preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize and work quickly under pressure.
- Complete extremely detail-oriented work with accuracy.
- Very strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- International experience in study, work, internship, exchange programs or extensive travel abroad.
- Open-minded and team-oriented personality with the ability to work independently and creatively.
- Flexibility and adaptability with strong comprehension skills to efficiently handle time-sensitive tasks.
- Eligibility to work in SEVIS as an Alternate Responsible Officer in the J-1 Visa Exchange Visitor Program. The U.S. Department of State only grants access to SEVIS if you are a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) or a US citizen (per U.S. Federal Regulations found at 22 CFR Part 62).
Benefits and Compensation: Compensation rate ranges from $55,000 to $62,500 per year.
