MEKRA Lang North America, an independent company of the MEKRA Group, was founded in 1994 as a manufacturer of vision systems for commercial vehicles. Our North American facility houses the primary Engineering, Design, Research, Testing and Manufacturing operations for the Western Hemisphere with product innovations for our customers all over the world.

The position is responsible to maintain financial accuracy for all plant processes and analyze all business trends and provide required explanations. The controller is in charge of the financial systems for all entities consolidated into the group and for preparation of accurate, timely and complete financial statements based on company cut-offs and Corporate Accounting Guidelines. This positions closely supports the company leadership team and president to achieve their goals and control cost and risk exposure.

Departmental Responsibilities


- Ensure integrity of systems feeding the financial and cost systems of the company
- Takes measures and implements controls for proper cut-off on Financial periods
- Maintains a running list of system issues and ensures they get addressed in a timely and lasting manner
- Organizes system training as needed and appropriate
- Liaison to external Financial auditors
- Evaluate and establish accounting / organizational internal controls Inventory
- Develops and documents processes and procedures to ensure inventory is evaluated according to company guidelines and US GAAP
- Works with material management to establish proper accounting and inventory control for subcontractor and ex-facility inventory
- Oversees all financial impacts of physical inventory conduct
- Establishes and maintains excess and obsolete inventory reserve file
- Analyze inventory valuation for accuracy
- Reconcile inventory stock

Fixed Assets:

- Establishes and documents policies and procedures to accurately account for fixed assets and related depreciation
- Ensures fixed asset dispositions and acquisitions are properly recorded
- Ensure fixed asset requisitions follow capital approval and acquisition guidelines
- Manages annual fixed asset inventory process
- Process depreciation on existing fixed assets during month-end close
- Develops annual CAPEX budget
- Manage Assets Under Construction, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy of capitalization

Business analysis:

- Performs monthly variance and in-efficiency analysis in Operations
- Sales, contribution and gross margin analysis on project level
- Work collaboratively with Department Managers to Plan, Track, Analyze, Control costs associated with projects
- Prepares Make-or buy-analysis as needed
- Prepares Transfer price analysis as needed
- Support Sales in calculation of Customer Quotes as needed
- Assist Finance Director in budgeting process

Cost Accounting:

- Takes responsibility for company costing (standard cost following the German Herstellkostenverfahren) and ensures frequent cost audits and annual adjustments, documents company costing methodology in a policy
- Performs inventory and cost variance analysis to provide inefficiency and non-conformance cost information to management
- Implement and maintain cost standards for materials and labor
-Perform Month-End Cost Accounting Close

• A minimun of 3 years experience in a cost accounting role of a manufacturing organization
• Master’s degree in Business and /or accounting
• Computer literate – strong EXCEL skills and the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office
• Experience with SAP
• Experience providing guidance to finance and non-finance individuals
• Strong sense of establishing companywide processes and internal controls
• Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual report
