The Operations Manager manages all aspects of the manufacturing processes as it relates to Production, Technical and PPC Warehouse.

The Operation manager will manage plant operations and performance as it relates to product quality, production efficiency, food safety, regulatory compliance, service to sales, cost control, workplace safety, and employee training and development. This person is responsible for ensuring products are produced in a safe, sanitary environment conforming to recognized industry cGMP’s and Food Safety regulations and delivered in accordance with industry standards and customer specifications and expectations.

They analyze manufacturing processes and develop procedures to minimize errors and downtimes and meet deliverables according to budget limitations and timetables. The Operations Manager of manufacturing assists the team with their inquiries and concerns and resolve process-related issues to prevent delays in operation.

The Operations Manager is a proactive business leader whose skills contribute to the efficient, systematic and profitable operation, responsible for designing and implementing strategies to increase efficiency, improve quality, improve employee safety, and ensure continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Achieve greater efficiency and productivity ensuring company goals are met by overseeing the production, Technical and PPC Warehouse operations and personnel.
  • Actively participate in corporate strategy, roundtables and planning.
  • Provide expertise, make recommendations and take a proactive role in the decision-making process of capital expenditures, upgrading manufacturing infrastructure and equipment.
  • Assist Plant Manager in preparation of and administer manufacturing budget ensuring targets are achieved and exceeded.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team to ensure production of multiple gluten-free products within the company guidelines and objectives
  • Proactive leader to work with senior management to get things done in a high and efficient manner.
  • Develop a highly productive leadership and work teams by using training, motivational techniques and by delegating specific duties to key personnel.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports for success and encourage the leaders to mentor and develop all departmental personnel.
  • Identify creative solutions to improve manufacturing capabilities.
  • Ensure proper facility management by monitoring all phases of production and insisting that all procedures, specifications and standards are met and by maintaining effective communication with all employees, creating appropriate budgets, monitoring costs, and maintaining good relations with FDA/USDA inspectors.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with other departments by insisting on a cooperative mindset and fostering open communication.
  • Ensure that all plant leaders monitor and administer QAD program, insisting on accurate, complete and timely data.
  • Monitor and administer SQF and HACCP programs, insisting on accurate, complete and timely compliance.
  • Encourage safety by insisting on a clean safe working environment, and that all employees are following prescribed safety procedures, including personal protective equipment.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding food manufacturing, specifically Bakery manufacturing processing and packaging equipment including but not limited to: mixers, dough dosing equipment, conveyors, ovens, slicers and packaging systems
  • Ten plus years of production management in food manufacturing industry.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor of Science degree in related discipline
  • Manufacturing knowledge and understanding of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations procedures
  • Lead and manage a diverse workforce in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Solid understanding of OSHA, FDA, and Food Safety regulations
  • High level of organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Mechanical aptitude is a plus
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety and Regulatory business standards, practices, policies, procedures and state and federal laws and regulations including but not limited to HACCP, GMP’s, SSOP’s, OSHA and Labor Laws
  • Microsoft Office computer software applications at a medium to expert user level.

Compensation: Range from 100K to 120K
