The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Inc. (GACC Midwest), is looking for a full-time Coordinator, Marketing & Communications with 2-3 years of work experience to be based in our Chicago office.

Job description:

The Coordinator, Marketing & Communications will work closely with all departments (Consulting Services, Membership & Events, Skills Initiative and Christkindlmarket) on day-to-day PR- and Marketing Communications deliverables as well as on special projects and initiatives to ensure their respective success. He/she should bring a creative approach to drafting original content (e.g. for press releases, social media, articles for publications, website text) and promoting our events, services and initiatives. The role also entails Sales/Business Development responsibilities for advertisements in our publications (print and digital) and event marketing/sponsorship. Candidates must be superb multi-taskers who thrive in collaborative team environments where shifting tasks and priorities are common. Strong project management skills are required to succeed in this role.

The role entails, but is not limited to, the following areas and responsibilities:

  • Create original copy for various print and digital marketing channels in both German and English
  • Design visually-compelling layouts for print/digital media, banners, ads, etc. that reinforces desired messaging
  • Manage and update content of GACC Midwest’s website using and implementing SEO guidelines
  • Provide creative input for new content and channels
  • Work directly with internal and external partners to source content
  • Work under strict deadlines while being able to prioritize
  • Ensure regular and clear communication to update on project processes and timelines
  • Coordinate production of print, digital and promotional products with vendors
  • Attend and support events, for example with prepared presentations and on-site video and social media production
  • Proofread content from internal and external partners
  • Develop and optimize processes as needed
  • Manage relationships with partners, member companies and all departments of the organization
  • Support departmental financial goals by actively selling advertisements/event sponsorships

Other duties include supporting GACC Midwest events and initiatives, including those not directly related to the Marketing & Communications Department, such as membership outreach, events, the ICATT Apprenticeship Program, the Christkindlmarket and important visitors, and other projects as needed.


  • 2-3 years of work experience in the Marketing, PR and Communications field, either for an agency or within the Marketing department of an organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Marketing or Communications
  • German language fluency (both written and spoken) is required
  • Advanced proficiency with the following programs: Microsoft 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, Constant Contact and Photoshop
  • Experience with Google Analytics
  • Experience/skills in the fields of editing/production of photos/images and print media
  • Prior experience working with a CRM system
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Extraordinary verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid understanding of B2B marketing concepts and best practices
  • Customer service mentality
  • Ability to manage several simultaneous projects and overlapping priorities
  • Self-motivated and highly dedicated
  • Desire to work in a cooperative team environment where each member assists where needed, regardless of primary area of responsibility
  • Candidates must periodically be available outside of core working core hours (including some weekends) in order to meet major deadlines or to support GACC Midwest events
